Look At The Sun
Look at the weeds, they’re golden today!
Look at the clouds, they’re silver- not grey
Look at the lightning, it’s lighting the way
Listen to the thunder, it’s got something to say
Refrain
Look at, look at the sun, my friend!
Shedding the tears, they’re relieving for you
To look at the sky, now soothingly blue
Feeling the rain, it’s quenching the new
Thirsting grass with crystals of dew
Refrain
Look at, look at the sun, my friend!
Bridge
Look at the dark- it enhances the light
Look at the light- it brightens the night
Look at the night- it gives rest to the sun
Look at the sun, look at the sun!
Look at! Look at!
Verse
Look at the moon, it’s smiling its cheer
Look at the far that soon will be near
Look at the sea, it’s greeting with waves
You have been lost but now have been saved
Refrain
Look at, look at the sun my friend!
Look at, look at the sun my friend!
Look at, look at the sun my friend!

Notes: I wrote this song after having a dream in which I could hear Ronnie James Dio singing the refrain “Look at, look at the sun my friend!” In the dream, I was across the road from my house in the field there and I was comforting my late brother John who apparently was dying. Ethereally, Dio’s voice was singing without Dio actually being present. I woke up from the dream and wrote the rest of the lyrics and completed the song. This was a few months after Dio had already passed away. As far as I know, he never wrote such a song while he was ‘alive’, but I credit him for coming to me in the dream and giving me the basis of this song. Perhaps it was an unrealized song that he had intended to write. I tried to imitate his voice but, as usual when I try to sing like someone else, I usually just end of sounding like myself. Of all my songs, this one is the most difficult for me to sing because of the excesses of the Bridge. I was able to sing the high sustained, distorted notes because I was able to multi-track them, allowing me to inhale the large amount of breath needed, but so far I have not been able to equal the singing in a complete live performance. Hopefully, someday my voice will adapt enough to be able to be able to sing and play the whole song at once.
