America In Wonderland

America In Wonderland, wonder where you’re going?
The only compass you follow is the hot air that is blowing

You’ve fallen down a rabbit hole giving into a temptation
But the only thing that you’ve found there is a mixed up, crazy nation

The Red Queen rants so carelessly, “What difference does it make?”
As her minions lose their heads and die because of her mistakes

The Cheshire Cat, he grins at her and pretends he is quite fond
And tells his subjects, “Follow her!” because they’re easily conned

The Mad Hatter is not so mad- in fact, he’s very shrewd
But the Queen’s subjects, who have no clue, just think he’s dumb and rude

“Why don’t we throw a Tea Party?” said the freedom-loving Dormouse
But the Queen and Cat would have none of that and said, “We’ll throw you in The Big House!”

“Unless you let us tax your tea; we can’t let you be unfair
We’ll use it to pay for the illnesses of the Gryphon and the Hare.”

“To insure this we will take away the freedoms of all chessmen
Off with the heads of those who won’t be pawns of the Queen’s Yes Men.”

Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee got together for a talky
But they pretended that it was just some Jabberwocky

“Let’s cover up the Queen’s misdeeds and make sure her rule is saved
Point fingers at the Mad Hatter. Make him out to be The Knave.”

So down and down and down we go, further into the Abyss
Even Alice never saw a land as upside down as this

America In Wonderland, wonder where you’re going?
The only compass you follow is the hot air that is blowing
